Strengthening regional integration and national capacity in the provision of government digital services
This project aims to advance democratic, inclusive and equitable governance across Africa by leveraging data and digital technologies. It supports the African Union Data Policy Framework and the Digital ID Interoperability Framework to address gaps in regulation and capacity while adequately focusing on the risks to marginalised groups. The project’s core focus is to create an inclusive digital environment for all Africans, particularly marginalised communities. It does this by considering what governance design and implementation mechanisms are needed to facilitate the establishment of regionally integrated, democratic, just and rights-preserving data systems in Africa.
Using a multi-partner approach that involves interdisciplinary collaboration with our research partners, internal and external stakeholders, this project holds a number of research, capacity-building and policy influence goals. The specific methodology being implemented to achieve these goals within various project activities includes desk research, literature reviews, surveys, in-depth interviews, case studies, workshops, training courses, and knowledge-sharing events.
