Diana Kemunto Nyakundi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an Artificial Intelligence Fellow at Research ICT Africa, where she has previously led the African Observatory on Responsible AI project. During this project, she promoted African voices and experiences around responsible AI and led the partnerships and research network at the Global Index on Responsible AI, a rights-based tool aiming to measure the responsible use of AI in over 120 countries. Ms Nyakundi has also worked with UNESCO as a RAM (Readiness Assessment Methodology) country expert researching and reporting on Kenya’s AI readiness. She holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, an Executive Certificate in Law, Policy, and Technology from IE University and an AI Policy Analyst Certification from the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Policy (CAIDP). Ms Nyakundi constantly explores the existing uses of emerging technologies, their interaction with users, and their impact on society to understand and influence policy that will enable their responsible and ethical use within the African continent.
