The Data policy and governance programme critically engages at a global, regional and country-level with an emphasis on creating policies that promote data justice and human rights. Through this programme, RIA aims to support policy development that ensures data is treated as a public good, promoting equitable access and development across Africa. With digital data increasingly at the core of economic and social interactions, RIA’s research in this programme seeks to ensure that data governance frameworks in Africa are inclusive, equitable, and able to manage the challenges of cross-border data flows, privacy and cybersecurity while taking into account their positive and negative risks.
