The work of the Think 20 (T20) under India ‘s G20 presidency that started in January 2023 ends with the release of the Think20 compendium, India 2023: Critical, Constructive, Conclusive. In the words of its editors “ it attempts to capture this engagement which is at once wholesome and provocative”. Drawing on rigorous research, the intention is to bring diverse perspectives from G20 countries together in the compendium. The 15 essays explore the core themes of India’s presidency, highlighting the challenges and framing pathways to sustainable solutions.
With India’s active inclusion of research partners into T20 for its presidency, there appears to be far more diverse participation, not only from India and Asia but from the broader majority world. I was honoured to be invited to contribute an issue paper for the Common Digital Agenda, which India has placed very firmly on its agenda with the promotion of its digital public infrastructure. RIA, together with partners from across the Global South, has been informally collaborating alongside (and to the extent possible, within) these formal structures to promote a more integrated progressive digital agenda for the troika leadership – India (2023), Brazil (2024) and South Africa (2025) – and maximise the historic and strategic moment of the presidency being emerging economies and significant South democracies over three years.
