Senka Hadzic (PhD) is a telecommunications engineer and ICT4D researcher with expertise in low cost connectivity solutions for developing countries. She has been with RIA since 2018, first as Ford Foundation (Media Democracy Fund) Tech Exchange Fellow, and currently as a CyberBRICS Fellow. CyberBRICS project is hosted by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) Law School in Rio de Janeiro, with the aim to map existing regulations, identify best practices and develop policy suggestions in the area of Internet access policy in the BRICS countries.
Senka holds a PhD in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Aveiro, Portugal. In 2014-2015 she was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute for Open Communication Systems in Germany, where she was working on wireless backhaul deployments for rural areas and developing countries. Since 2016 she has been affiliated with the ICT4D research centre at the University of Cape Town.
