Senior Faculty, ICT Policy Consultant, Advisory Panel Member of the World Bank World Development Report 2016 at Strathmore Business School
Dr. Monica Kerretts-Makau is based at Strathmore Business School as Senior Faculty while also undertaking several projects. She currently teaches in the MBA and MPP programs: Managing Change & Strategy and Institutions and Public Policy programs. Dr. Kerretts earned her PhD in Australia (UNSW) with a focus on Institutional Governance Management. She earned her MSC in the UK (Salford University, Manchester) and her undergraduate studies in Communications (Major and Business Minor) with Cum Laude Honors from Daystar University, Athi-River Campus. Dr Monica Kerretts-Makau is passionate about ICT and Policy and is currently sitting on the Advisory Board of the World Banks World Development Report 2016, focusing on the role of ICT and Development.
She is one of the representatives for Africa in this panel which is chaired by the President of Estonia. Dr. Kerretts-Makau has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank since 1997. She has served in Rwanda as the ICT Policy Adviser on Regulation and Universal Access in RURA (Rwanda’s Regulatory Body – 2007-2009). She worked on several World Bank ICT Policy projects most recent Botswana’s ICT Regulatory Framework (2012- 2014), South Sudan (2009 – present), Somalia (2014 – present). She also served as Board Director in the former Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK – 2011-2014). She remains an active member in society engaged in transformation activities and in Machakos County under the banner of Kenya Mpya (An I Choose Life Project). She is passionate about cleanliness in society and believes that transformation begins with being the change and making a change where you are.
