Pria Chetty announced as the new Executive Director of Research ICT Africa

The Research ICT Africa Board (RIA) is pleased to announce Pria Chetty’s appointment as the Executive Director Designate (EDD), to take over from outgoing Executive Director (ED) Dr Alison Gillwald.

Following an extensive and rigorous process to identify the new ED, the RIA Board agreed that Pria’s personal qualities and track record are the best fit to take over the reins and lead the organisation into its next phase. A seasoned leader in digital policy, regulation, and technology law, she brings over 20 years of experience working across the African continent, with a career rooted in advancing inclusive and equitable digital governance.

Pria will take over from Alison, RIA’s founding Executive Director, following a six-month handover process. This transition has been designed to ensure the effective transfer of critical institutional knowledge and relationships, maintaining the stability and continuity needed for RIA’s continued impact. Beyond this transition period, Alison will remain involved in an advisory capacity, as a Distinguished Fellow.
