Africa has seen an exponential growth of mobile phone adoption over the past decade, to become one of the largest market joining Asia and Latin America. This has led to a lot of great innovations and creative ideas have emerged from the African continent. While Africa can potentially benefit from the digital economy, Research ICT Africa 2017 After Access survey shows that most of African countries have not yet benefited from digital dividends mainly because majority of Africans do not have access to the Internet. Some of the challenges still facing Africa are poor connectivity in rural areas, lack of digital skills and lack of fully integrated infrastructure.
