This project aims to enhance data access for tech accountability and electoral integrity in Africa. It comprises two main components:
- Research and Guideline Development: This component focuses on researching and developing guidelines for stakeholder access to data during elections. It addresses monitoring tech accountability and combating election disinformation in Africa. This involves strategic initiatives such as virtual meetings and engagement with the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM), other African Union (AU) organs, and Election Management Bodies (EMBs) in Africa. The resulting guidelines will provide a roadmap for responsible and ethical access to platform data, equipping EMBs and civil society organisations with the necessary tools and references within African normative frameworks.
- Strengthening the African Alliance for Access to Data (AAAD): This component seeks to strengthen the AAAD through virtual meetings and raising awareness about data access issues.
Beneficiaries:
- Election Management Bodies (EMBs)
- Civil society organisations
- African researchers
- The African electorate at large
