Mlamli Booi is a Professional Electrical Engineer registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) and a Chartered Director certified by the Institute of Directors. He completed his 8 year contract as the CEO of SENTECH SOC Ltd, a State owned ICT infrastructure company producing excellent results. He was appointed as a Professor of practice by the University of Johannesburg in recognition of his professional contribution in industry and research collaborations. He is also a member of the Industry Advisory Board for the Faculty Of Engineering and built environment at UJ. He has more than thirty years of experience in the ICT
sector, at different levels of professional responsibility as an engineer as well as more than 20 years in leadership. Mlamli is an experienced director of companies. His experience covers areas such as: business strategy leadership, management of innovation, engineering and engineering management, policy, regulatory, strategy and general management. He is currently pursuing a PhD in the Faculty of Engineering in University of Johannesburg.
He holds an MSc degree in Engineering from UCT (1989), and a postgraduate diploma in project management (1993). He also holds a Diploma in Company Direction from GIMT (2006). He also has a certificate in Corporate Innovation from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2019), Driving Innovation and New Ventures in Established Organisations from Stanford Graduate School of Business (2023). He is a Member of IEEE and a chartered director registered with IoD South Africa. He founded Z-Coms, an ICT consulting firm, and led the firm from 1999 until 2015. He leads with the top 5 Gallup strengths: Learner, Connectedness, Responsibility, Analytical and Self-Assured. He is a Gallup certified Executive coach and completed a postgraduate coaching certificate from UCT in 2021/22.
