Mandla is is a seasoned executive, an entrepreneur and an ICT regulation and policy expert. Her areas of specialisation in the ICT sector are broadband strategy, ICT accessibility and the financing of universal access and service. Mandla has extensive research and governance experience, both nationally and internationally, including the African continent, and strong leadership capability.
Mandla is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Nozala Women Investments, a woman owned private equity firm with a diversified portfolio in the minerals and energy sector and in industrial and consumer services. Prior to joining Nozala, Mandla established and ran Pygma Consulting, a pan-African Information and Communication Technology (ICT) policy and regulatory advisory firm whose clients include mobile operators, regulators and governments across Africa and the Middle East. Mandla gained experience in the telecommunications, media and technology space through working at secior roles in the sector regulator in South Africa and after that with a mobile operator.
She serves on the boards of Nozala Women Investments and serveral of the companies in its portfolio. In addition, Mandla is on the board of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and of Pygma Consulting.
Her academic qualifications include a MSc (Regulation) from the London School of Economics and a BA from Cornell University.
