Overview
Research ICT Africa is seeking a Junior Digital Content Producer with a flair for turning complex research and data into clear, engaging, and visually compelling digital content. This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years of experience, preferably in research or science communications, who is eager to apply their creativity across multiple platforms, including digital publications, infographics, animations, and interactive visualisations. You will join a small communications team working at the intersection of research, policy, and digital innovation, contributing to the design and dissemination of impactful outputs.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Publication Design
– Design of reports, briefs, and other research outputs for digital-first dissemination.
– Ensure all digital content is consistent with brand guidelines, and optimised for digital platforms.
– Ensure that all digital publications follow the in-house templates
Data Visualisation and Infographics
– Translate complex data and ideas into visually clear and engaging infographics, charts, and visual summaries to be included in publications and presentations.
Social Media Content Development
– Create compelling graphics, animations, and short-form video content tailored for various platforms.
Digital Products and Platforms
– Support the development and management of digital tools such as visualisations, dashboards, and maps.
– Assist with updating and managing website content on WordPress.
Print material design
– Design of brand collateral such as business cards, branding, signage and other print materials, ensuring consistent and coherent brand rollout
Creative Collaboration
– Contribute ideas and execution to new ways of presenting research, including interactive tools, visual explainers, and creative campaigns.
– Work closely with researchers, the communications team, and external suppliers to deliver cohesive outputs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital Content Design, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop), Tableau, Canva and other design and data visualisation software.
- Proficiency in G-Suite as a content management and communication tool.
- Experience in social media content creation and management is preferred.
- Experience in WordPress publishing, design, and administration.
- Detail-oriented and capable of working independently without constant supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
