RIA was invited by the South African Parliament Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies to speak at their symposium, on 29 August and 30 August 2023, dealing with the theme: The Impact of Digital Media in Misinformation, Disinformation and Content Moderation ahead of the 2024 National Elections. Dr. Scott Timcke and Hanani Hlomani spoke about their work on artificial intelligence, misinformation and democracy, linking several programmes of work RIA’s staff have recently undertaken.
