RIA’s Alison Gillwald participated in a World Trade Organisation (WTO) webinar panel discussion on 9 September 2020, themed, “The Mechanics of Data Flows”, as part of their Trade Dialogue Webinar Series.
This webinar formed part of the data series, “The Governance of Data Flows and Trade”. According to the WTO, “Data flows can best foster trade, if complementary policies are put in place that enhance connectivity while safeguarding network integrity and security, that promote trust in the way information is collected and used, and that encourage a level playing field.”
Alison’s input focused on the supply side dynamics of digital inequality in Africa in relation to the datafication theme.
