Call for Comments on Digital Governance and the Challenges for Trust and Safety

Research ICT Africa, together with UNESCO, are inviting comments on the draft background paper on platform governance developed for UNESCO’s global conference “Internet for trust – Towards Guidelines for Regulating Digital Platforms for Information as a Public Good”, to be held 21 to 23 February 2023.

The paper is available in three parts:

Besides seeking feedback on the documents, RIA is hosting a panel at the UNESCO conference in Paris on 21 February. It will be moderated by executive director, Dr Alison Gilwald, and panellists include Pansy Tlakula, South Africa’s Information Regulator; Dr Joan Donovan, internet scholar; Jorge Canahuati Larach, Honduran news publisher, and Maria Donde, Ofcom (the UK communications regulator).
