Fazila Farouk

Fazila is a communications specialist, researcher and policy analyst with over 20 years of experience, which includes working in civil society and academia.

Fazila is also a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town. Her research examines the intersection of automation, unemployment and inequality in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), with a special focus on white-collar workers.

Fazila recently worked at the Southern Africa Labour & Development Research Unit (SALDRU) in the School of Economics at the University of Cape Town, as the unit’s Communications Manager. Prior to this Fazila was the founder and publisher of The South African Civil Society Information Service, which operated from 2008 – 2015. SACSIS was a non-profit media agency that channelled social justice commentary and analysis to the mainstream media.
